Special Cooling Operation (For 18–36 Models)
This feature helps the unit run more smoothly when outdoor temperatures are low.
How It Works
-
The unit operates only in Cooling Mode.
-
Airflow is fixed at High speed.
-
The temperature range is automatically set between 76°F (24°C) and 88°F (30°C).
-
The outdoor unit can run in outdoor temperatures as low as -4°F (-20°C) and as high as 122°F (50°C).
When to Use
-
This function is designed for situations where cooling is needed during cooler outdoor weather (e.g., server rooms, special process areas).
-
Most homeowners do not need this function for everyday cooling.
Recommended Operation for Lower Set Points
-
If a cooler indoor temperature is required, follow the same principle as special cooling:
-
Set fan speed to High → This keeps system pressures more stable.
-
Adjust thermostat to the desired temperature.
-
-
Be aware:
-
The unit will not shut down because of temperature lockout.
-
It may, however, shut down due to low-pressure safety if conditions are too extreme.
-
If this happens, the unit will stop, then restart automatically once conditions stabilize.
-
This type of trip is uncommon, but more likely if the outdoor temperature drops below -10°F (-23°C).
-
Settings
-
Default (factory) setting: Disabled
-
Can be changed to:
-
00 = Disabled
-
01 = Enabled
-
Important Notes
-
Do not use this function if the system is set to “Heating Only.”
-
A wired remote controller is required to enable this function.
-
If this function is enabled, the unit may start cooling automatically even if the remote controller is not communicating.
-
If condensation (dew) forms on the indoor unit, change the setting back to Disabled (00).
✅ Recommendation: Leave this function disabled unless instructed by a service professional, or if you specifically need cooling at lower outdoor temperatures.
