Hello,
Gathering static pressure can be difficult on these mobile home units, I would recommend getting the static pressure readings before and after the evaporator coil. As well as the return air static reading, this can be done after the filter in the blower compartment. The supply static can be checked in the coil cabinet section, with the coil pressure box doors in place; as well as after the coil. Either right after the front data plate of the coil, or in the plenum. Gathering the static pressure in the plenum might be difficult as it requires going under the mobile home. I have a few pictures attached, see below, of where it would be ideal to check static pressure, the best way to gather this information would be to check in a few locations to see what the max. total static pressure of the duct system would be. This check is crucial to understanding the airflow in the home and whether we are having issues with airflow; which could cause performance issues, excessive temperature issues, and longevity issues on the components such as premature blower motor/TXV/Compressor/etc. failures.
I have a picture below for reference of what the gauge to measure static pressure looks like, this would be yellow jackets version, UEI,Fluke, etc. might vary a bit in style but the tool itself would be similar in function. I also have a helpful YouTube video of UEI’s Static Pressure Test below as well.
- This check would be for the return air, putting the probe after the filter somewhere near this area in a few spots across the louvered door or top of the furnace would get the desired return air reading.
- This would be before the coil, in between the return air and supply air, best spot I can think would be in the pressure box of the coil cabinet section, before the coil, ideally with the probe facing up towards the direction of airflow.
- Would be after the evaporator coil/ supply static pressure/ Getting the probe in a few locations ideally with the probe facing towards the direction of airflow. Holes can be covered with a rubber grommet, silicone, or silver duct tape
